Culture
With it's historic and cultural traditions going back
hundreds of years El Born, the Heirght of Barcelona, offers
many sites of interest to the culture lover.
Of course merely walking the streets rich in history such
as the Passeig del Born is itself an amazing cultural
experience. And the nightlife and bar scene is a form
of modern culture. But for the more traditional
experience don't miss the many small art galleries in the
district.
Start perhaps with Maeght Gallery, C/Montcada 25, which
is a branch of the famed Parisian gallery and holds shows of
Spanish artists as well as those from around the globe.
Housed in a fabulous Renaissance Palace it's plain interior
highlights the works on show.
Then venture to Picasso Museum to see what the great man
was doing before he became famed for his abstract work.
Finally touch on the cultural inheritance that Spain owes
to Latin America with the Museum of pre-Columbian artifacts
just next door to the Picasso Museum.
To the north along C. del Palau de la Música, 2 is the
Palau de la Música Catalana, which is a UNESCO world
heritage site, which not only showcases great Catalan music
but also international music. The magnificant
architecutre is viewable in daily tours, which you should
book in advance via their web site.
