Things to see

As a great architectural and historical centre of Barcelona the El Born district is packed full of things to see and to liven the eye or offer a photographic experience to take home.

Each little winding medieval street can itself be a glory to see, but when overlaid with the modern uses of real local people with their interests in fashion and art the district really comes alive.

Special things to see include:

• Mercat de Santa Caterina - amazing piece of modern architecture housing a real neighbourhood market
• Palau de la Musica Catalana, particularly the stained glass dome from inside
• Santa Maria del Mar, gothic architecture at its best

But really the entire district is the thing to see, and mustn't be missed!
